About Reese
Reese Carmen Villella (she/her) is an NYC-based writer, director, and producer for stage and screen. In May 2025, she graduated from NYU, where she studied subversive storytelling. As an artist, she is passionate about female-centric narratives, body horror, and knowing how to have fun. She also interned in the script department at Saturday Night Live for its 50th season.
As a filmmaker, she has written and directed three short films. Her plays have been presented at venues across NYC, including The Red Pavilion, The Tank, The Chain, The WET, The Hudson Guild, Frigid Under St. Marks, The Producer’s Club, and at NYU.
In 2026, she founded her production company Mother Of LLC, which champions stories that center queer and female-driven perspectives through horror, comedy, viscera, and surrealism.
When not writing for stage or screen, she regularly posts on her Substack (Holy Wound), where she publishes poetry, short stories, essays, and more. She is also Senior Culture and Politics Staff Writer for Gut Instinct Media. She has been featured in publications such as Active Chapter, Four Tulips, and NYU’s Confluence. In 2022, she released her first poetry collection, ‘Piles of Cherry Pits,’ and her second, ‘Erot,’ is set for release in late 2026.
She cites Gaspar Noé and New French Extremity as major influences on her creative work.
